The owners personal '96 HARLEY FATBOY in better than new condition
Submitted for your approval and the envy of all your friends, is this 1996 Harley Davidson Fat boy FLSTF. In a perfect blend between performance and comfort, many of the amenities that make this Fat boy a classic have been replaced with billet and chrome. Following is a short list of modifications that make up $35K in upgrades.
Paint:
The paint is hotrod flat black. I started with classic gloss black, added red and white ol skool pinstriping and graphics and then laid on 6 coats of the new satin clear. Its completely clearcoated but looks flat black! Everyone LOVES it! Flawless!
Front End Lower:
Let’s start with the front-end. The entire front end and all connected parts have been removed, triple plated chromed and remounted. No caps for this beautiful baby.
Front end upper:
As you follow the chrome covered fork tubes up into the chrome cow bells, you can’t help but notice the chromed aluminum Rich Doss Nacelle head light housing with maltese cross headlight.
Bars:
Behind the headlight I applied the ever popular chopper style 18" apehangers. The bars are 1 1/4 thick for a rich, fat look!
Grips:
Performance Machine Renthal grips are at each end of the bars with matched floor boards, passenger pegs, brake pedal and shifters.
Mirrors & Blinkers:
To keep an eye on the lack of competition behind you, I’ve put together a simple yet effective 2" ol skool round mirror. In the back I used a Cycle Visions license plate frame with small thin LED lights built right in. You can barely see them untill they blink!
Dash:
The stock dash was retained after being treated in carbon fiber and a small pocket was added below for whatever you choose to stash.
Rims/ Tires:
Brake Rotors/ Belt Pulley:
The radius wheels are upgrades on a stock bagger but wait till you see what I did with them! I pulled them apert and powder coated the rims and hums in crimson red, then relaced them with polished stainless steel spokes. I found new polished stainless rotors and a chromed aluminum pulley to math and inastalled them with all chrome hardware. When I was finished, I wrapped them in what else??, Avon Gangster Whitewalls! They're so sick! The gangsters are actually a new style Avon Venom tires that Avon made into white walls cut an ol skool looking tread pattern into. Awesome!!
Lowered:
To compliment the wheels the front and rear end have been professionally lowered 2” by use of White Brothers lowered front fork springs and a rear adjustable shock kit.
Soft Tail Explained:
This stunning frame was designed to mock the original hard tail of the 50’s and 60’s. Harley modified the hard tail ride to include an independent rear swing arm and 2 soft shocks carefully hidden under the bike’s frame. They named this new frame “Soft Tail”. Soft tails were designed as touring bikes but have the looks many people search for in a sport bike. I’m one of those people, so I immediately went to work on the motor to blend my bike to accept the best of both worlds.
Let’s talk about the motor
Motor:
This Harley rides like a touring bike, looks like a show bike and runs like a raped ape. The motor was no accident, but rather a carefully planned process, incorporating ideas for some of the top motor builders and built locally by our Harley Shop that’s known for their reliable, fast bikes. Before, after and annual dyno runs are documented and gains carefully noted. Just a few of the specs are; Thunder Header exhaust, stage 3 Screaming Eagle carb kit, free flowing K&N air filter, port and polished heads, J&E 10.5:1 Forged pistons, Andrews SE-11 cam, adjustable pushrods, 6200 Adjustable ignition module. The very reliable stock carb outperforms any aftermarket carb on the street.
RELIABLE:
I would ride this Bike anywhere, and have. She always starts, runs like the Thoroughbred that she is and never overheats or complains about long hours on the road.
Convertible
This bike is fully convertible. As the photos will show, you can go from nearly full dress with 5 cubic ft storage space to stripped down and show -ready in about 2 minutes. There are three seats to choose from, depending on the type of riding you plan to do, as well as, a sissy bar with or without tail bag. All can be used together or separately, using the ingenious billet detachable system designed by Bubba’s Brakes.
